Nike Huarache x Masienda Role product viz Tools C4D, Redshift, Ae
The word ‘huarache’ comes from the term ‘kwarachi’ for sandal in Purépecha, the language of the indigenous Purépecha people of Michoacán. Like blue jeans, huaraches come from humble origins (they were often worn by workers), but have been elevated to contemporary fashion mainstay. I was commissioned by masa (dough) company Masienda to help with the product visualization of Masienda's special edition of the Huarache Nike Air shoe. It pays tribute to the huaraches that adorn tables and feet, designed in the image of the Mexican food staple. Layered atop an obsidian comal outsole, a thick masa yellow midsole lays the foundation for the tapestry of colors that adorn the classic dish. Earthly toned frijoles and deeply hued carne asada uppers give way to avocado green and habanero orange accents, while crema laces and radish-inspired tongue patch make for the perfect garnish.
